Position Overview:
The Senior PR Executive – Earned Media & Media Relations will lead the day-to-day execution of public relations and earned media initiatives that increase brand visibility and strengthen the organization’s reputation within the behavioral health and healthcare industry.
This is a hands-on public relations and media relations role focused on proactive media pitching, journalist outreach, healthcare storytelling, press material development, thought leadership opportunities, and securing consistent earned media coverage.
The ideal candidate is a proactive PR professional and strong writer with demonstrated experience developing compelling story angles, pitching journalists, building media relationships, and securing meaningful press coverage. This role requires someone who can independently manage multiple media opportunities from initial idea and pitch development through follow-up, placement, and reporting.

Responsibilities:
Earned Media Outreach
  • Identify, develop, and pursue earned media opportunities related to:
    • New healthcare service launches, including TMS Therapy and Group Therapy
    • New clinic openings and market expansions
    • Mental health and healthcare awareness campaigns and events
    • Behavioral health trends, timely news opportunities, and relevant healthcare topics
  • Develop and maintain targeted media lists across local, regional, national, healthcare, and trade media
  • Develop compelling story angles and proactively pitch journalists, reporters, editors, and producers via email, phone, and digital platforms
  • Conduct consistent media follow-up to secure meaningful earned media coverage and press placements

PR Content Development & Thought Leadership
  • Write and develop press materials, including press releases, media advisories, pitch emails, story angles, executive talking points, and media responses
  • Develop digital press kits, including fact sheets, leadership and provider bios, images, and other media assets
  • Identify thought leadership opportunities that position executives and behavioral health providers as expert media sources
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather accurate information, develop compelling leadership and clinical quotes, and ensure messaging aligns with brand and compliance standards

Media Relations & Placement Management
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, reporters, editors, producers, and healthcare media contacts
  • Coordinate interviews, media inquiries, and other press opportunities
  • Prepare executives, clinical leaders, and providers for media interviews as needed
  • Track and confirm media placements and monitor the accuracy of published coverage
  • Maintain organized records of media outreach, responses, opportunities, and coverage

Media Opportunity Platforms
  • Actively monitor and respond to journalist and media opportunities through platforms such as Qwoted and HARO
  • Identify relevant journalist queries and position Harmony United executives and behavioral health providers as expert sources
  • Draft and submit timely, high-quality media responses

Reporting & Optimization
  • Track earned media coverage, press placements, and outreach performance
  • Monitor media outreach effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve pitching strategies
  • Provide regular reporting on media outreach, journalist engagement, placements, and PR opportunities
  • Maintain visibility into active pitches and follow-up opportunities

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in public relations, earned media, media relations, or healthcare communications
  • Demonstrated success pitching journalists and securing earned media coverage or press placements
  • Excellent PR writing, storytelling, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience writing press releases, media pitches, media advisories, and other public relations materials
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with journalists, reporters, editors, and/or producers
  • Experience with healthcare, behavioral health, lifestyle, consumer, or regulated industries preferred
  • Familiarity with media relations and journalist sourcing platforms such as Qwoted and HARO is a plus
  • Strong project management, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Ability to independently manage multiple media pitches, opportunities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in healthcare PR, behavioral health communications, mental health communications, or healthcare media relations
  • Experience supporting multi-location, growth-stage, or expanding healthcare organizations
  • Existing relationships with journalists, healthcare media, or regional/national media contacts
  • Experience developing executive or clinical thought leadership opportunities
  • Experience securing local, regional, national, and/or healthcare trade media coverage
