Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on backend development experience to join our Product Development team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, optimizing, and maintaining secure, scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems and APIs for healthcare applications.

The candidate should have strong expertise in backend architecture, API development, databases, system integration, security, performance optimization, and production support. Experience with healthcare applications, EMR/EHR systems, medical billing, insurance workflows, or healthcare technology will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend applications, services, and RESTful APIs.
• Develop scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs and microservices.
• Design and implement backend architecture and application components.
• Develop business logic and backend workflows for healthcare applications.
• Design, develop, and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Develop efficient database schemas, queries, indexes, transactions, and data-access layers.
• Perform SQL query optimization and database performance tuning.
• Integrate third-party APIs, external services, healthcare systems, and other external platforms.
• Implement authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, logging, and secure API practices.
• Ensure applications meet requirements for security, performance, scalability, reliability, and data integrity.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application, API, database, integration, and production issues.
• Monitor and improve API response times and overall backend performance.
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding and software development best practices.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, UI/UX teams, and product teams.
• Maintain technical documentation, API documentation, and system documentation.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to technical architecture, system design, scalability, and technology decisions.
• Identify technical risks and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers.
• Support production deployments, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional hands-on experience in backend development.
• Strong programming experience in one or more backend technologies:
  • Java / Spring Boot
  • C# / .NET
  • Python
  • Node.js / Express
  • PHP
• Strong experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, application design, and software development patterns.
• Strong experience with SQL databases and database design.
• Experience with SQL query optimization, indexing, transactions, and database performance tuning.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and external services.
• Experience implementing authentication, authorization, validation, logging, and error handling.
• Experience developing unit and integration tests.
• Strong knowledge of Git and version-control practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
• Good understanding of application security and secure coding practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Redis or similar technologies

Messaging:

OAuth 2.0, JWT, RBAC, Secure API Development, OWASP principles

API Documentation:
Swagger / OpenAPI

Healthcare Technology – Preferred
